The Guinness World Records 2014 for dogs is out online on their website. Last time we looked at Colonel Meow’s Guinness World Record for longest fur on a cat (we’ll compile a more comprehensive list for cats next time). Now we are looking at the Guinness World Records 2014
Guinness World Records 2014 for Dogs
Guinness World Records 2014 revealed that pocket-sized pets are one of the most popular records on their database. Miracle Milly is the smallest dog living in terms of height. She is a female Chihuahua and owned by Vanesa Semler of Dorado, Puerto Rico.
Milly measures 9.5cm (3.8″) tall and weighs around 1 lbs (0.5KG). When she was born she was so tiny she was able to fit in a teaspoon.
Milly now sleeps in a baby’s crib next to Vanesa’s bed and only eats human food. She is known for sticking her tongue out when someone photographs her.
“She knows how to pose,” says Vanesa.”People are amazed when they see her because she is so small, and she has a big personality. People love her.”
The Guinness World Records holder for the longest tongue on a dog is Puggy – a male Pekingese – owned by Becky Stanford. Puggy’s tongue measure 11.43cm (4.5 inches). The measurement was recorded when Puggy was 9 years old at Avondale Haslet Animal Clinic, Texas, United States.
Zeus – a Great Dane – is the current Guinness World Records holder for the Tallest Dog Ever. He is three years old and lives with his owner, Denise Doorlag, in Michigan, United States.
Zeus measures at 111.8cm (44 inches) from foot to withers; he is the same size as an average donkey. When he stands he reaches an incredible height of 7ft 4 inches. Zeus weighs 70.3KG (155 pounds or 11 stone) and he manages to eat around 12 cups of food a day.
“Zeus is an awesome dog,” says owner Denise. “The only downside is that everything costs more; the food, medicines, transport. We had to get a van to be able to transport him, oh, and if he steps on your foot – he leaves bruises!”
The record for most dogs skipping on the same rope was achieved by thirteen dogs from Uchida Geinousha’s “Super Wan Wan Circus” from Japan. The attempt was a part of a Japanese TV Show “ ’Bikkuri Chojin Special #3″ on 27th October 2009.
This Guinness World Records 2014 belongs to Daz – a white German Shepherd – owned by Peter Lucken in the UK. The loudest bark by Daz measured 108 dB.
The current world record holder for the highest jump cleared by a dog is Cinderella May a Holly Grey, owned by Kate Long. The jump was 172.7cm (68 inches) in height and it was attempted at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge National Finals, Missouri, United States.
That was our selection of the current records from Guinness World Records 2014 for Dogs. Next time when we look at wold records, we will have a look at cats’ Guinness World Records.
